My name is Dr. Hyun Woo. I am a board eligible periodontist, and my goal is to provide you with optimal gum health and beautiful smiles in the manner of comfortable experiences and personalized periodontal treatments. Periodontics, a dental specialty exclusively focusing on gum disease, other tooth-supporting tissues, and dental implantology, was my natural choice since I love science, medicine, and dentistry.
I graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor's degree in biological sciences with a concentration in molecular and cell biology, continued my education at Johns Hopkins University, and received a master's degree. Upon graduation, I worked at a biotechnology company in Seoul, South Korea where I was part of the first Korean human genome sequencing project that became published in Nature. At that time, I decided to be a dentist, received Dental Degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, OH, and finished my periodontics residency at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in the city of New York. During my residency, I did research on reconstruction of periodontal tissues on dental implants for the treatment of peri-implantitis and received a Master of Science degree in periodontics. I am also appointed to a part-time faculty teaching periodontics at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.
I enjoy spending time with my wife and 3-year-old son James and exploring lots of outdoor activities. New York has always been my home state since my college years, and I am glad to serve my communities and patients here.
